A space for connection and finding direction

Rarebit Retreats was created by friends who believe that everyone deserves a rare bit of time just for themselves. Our retreat days are simple, thoughtful experiences designed to help you step away from the rush of everyday life. They offer a chance to slow down, take a breath, and enjoy some space, without pressure, expectations, or the need to be anything other than yourself. We create relaxed, friendly environments where you can rest, reflect, learn and reconnect in ways that feel comfortable.

What We Offer

Day Retreats

Themed, immersive days that give you proper time away from the everyday, without switching off from the real world. These are full, well-structured days designed to create space to think, move, learn, and reset. Each day retreat is built around a clear theme and a varied mix of activity. That might include time outdoors, practical skills, creative sessions, guided reflection, shared food, or moments of quiet. Some parts are calm, others more energising, but everything is optional and designed so you can take part in a way that suits you.Day retreats aren’t about escaping life, they’re about stepping back enough to see it more clearly. You’ll leave feeling more grounded, more confident, and re-energised, with something tangible to take forward, not just a nice feeling.

Workshops

Practical, engaging sessions that mix thinking, doing, and getting moving. These are shorter sessions designed to fit into real life, whether you’re looking to learn something new, stretch yourself a bit, or simply step out of your usual routine.Workshops might include skills like navigation, creative problem-solving, movement, or hands-on activities alongside space to reflect and reset. Some are calm, some are more active, and many sit somewhere in between. You don’t need any prior experience, just a willingness to have a go.They’re friendly, informal, and pressure-free. You can take part at your own pace, listen more than you talk, or throw yourself in. The aim is that you leave feeling clearer, more confident, and re-energised, not drained or overwhelmed.

Seasonal Specials

One-off events shaped by the time of year and what it invites us to do. These sessions change with the seasons and might be reflective, practical, active, or a combination of all three.Depending on the season, a Special could involve being outdoors, learning a new skill, marking a moment of change, or taking stock before what comes next. Think less ritual, more real-world connection to the landscape, the weather, and where you are in your own life.Seasonal Specials are about stepping out of autopilot. They offer time to pause when that’s needed, or to move and challenge yourself when that feels right. You’ll leave feeling more grounded, more awake, and more connected to both the season and the people around you.

Meet The Team

Hello, I’m Alison.
For over twenty years, I’ve worked in higher education, supporting women as they navigate learning, work, confidence, and identity. Alongside my role as a senior lecturer at a local university, I’ve spent much of my career listening to people’s stories, their hopes, their self-doubt, their exhaustion, and their quiet desire for space to just be.
Rarebit Retreats has grown from that listening.
Through my work, I’ve seen how rarely women give themselves to pause in their busy lives. To reflect. To reconnect with who they are beyond roles, responsibilities, and expectations. I believe deeply in the power of gentle, creative spaces where women can step away from everyday pressures and spend time with themselves, without judgement, productivity targets, or the need to perform.
My background is in creative, reflective practice, and I love using simple, thoughtful activities that help people explore who they are and where they are going. These sessions are not about fixing or improving, but about noticing, resting, and reconnecting in ways that feel safe and supportive.
Rarebit Retreats is an invitation to slow down, to feel held, and to rediscover what matters to you, in the company of others who understand the need for warmth, care, and kindness.
You are very welcome here.

Hi, I’m Helen, one of the founders of Rarebit Retreats. I spend a lot of my time outdoors and feel most at home when I’m walking, swimming, navigating, or learning something new.My background is in outdoor leadership, community work, and volunteering. I’ve worked on projects that bring people together around shared activity, learning, and time outside, and I’m interested in how practical experiences can help people reset, gain perspective, or try something new without it needing to be a big deal.I live in West Wales with my wife and our two rescue dogs. I love the coast, long walks, cold water, and being active, and I’m currently training for my first triathlon. When I’m not working, I’m usually outside somewhere or planning my next project
